Hi there, my name is Chantel Bode, I am married to my extremely supportive husband, Tyler; we
have two dogs, a bloodhound named Bella and a black lab named Bruce. We also have a fluffy kitty named Zoey who I may or may not be a little too obsessed with haha. I grew up in Saskatoon, SK and take any chance I get to go to BC. I LOVE hiking and adventure and of course, mountains which you will notice when you see my office haha don't worry, I wont ruin the surprise. In my spare time I like to watch The Office (comfort show), read, refinish furniture, and simply be outside enjoying the sun; I'm also a huge sucker for sunsets!
I have worked with Canadian Mental Health Association - Saskatoon Branch developing the Connect Up program and developing the Families Matter Support Group, in addition to providing counselling services. I absolutely enjoyed my time with CMHA. I have also worked with the Saskatoon Public Schools as an elementary counsellor and other private practices. My goal was to always branch out and start my own private practice, and well, here we are! (Celebration dance!)
I have a degree in social work (BSW., RSW) and certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy C-DBT. Mental illness is my jam! I enjoy working with clients to continue the fight against stigma surrounding mental illness by normalizing conversations, in addition to learning that mental illness does not define who you are. As you can probably guess, these blogs will contain conversation surrounding mental illness such as, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and OCD, but will also include and not limited to conversation around setting appropriate boundaries, assertive communication, self-esteem, and challenging negative thinking.
I plan to approach each topic in a lighthearted and non-lectured manner. Some topics may be heavy, and a trigger warning notification may be present at the beginning of those articles. I have no doubt you will recognize my enthusiasm throughout these blogs and grow to become just as enthusiastic as me! Ok, maybe not as enthusiastic haha. It has always been shared with me that I am a positive Pelly which comes out in my work, and I hope to extend it here.
Let’s leave it at that for today.
PS: show up for yourself.
Until next time –
Chantel Bode
